Armageddon Time

1980, Queens New York City. Aspiring artist Jewish-American Paul, the youngest son of the Graff family, is on the cusp of adolescence. Struggling to fit in at school, he finds solace in his close relationship with his beloved grandfather (the wonderful Anthony Hopkins) and his budding friendship with Johnny, a sensitive and defiant African-American boy. As he tries to find his way in the world, America, too, is going through a profound change with Ronald Reagan’s landslide victory and the rise of a new economic era.  Featuring a stellar cast, James Gray’s new film is his most personal to date – an unashamedly nostalgic, if unsentimental, love letter to his childhood.
